An Interpretive Hiking Map of the BARTRAM TRAIL, Georgia (1 of 2)

Looking for the trail less traveled? Try the Bartram Trail (BT) through Georgia & North Carolina, a National Recreation Trail. Our Backcountry Maps, Thru-Hiker Series map will guide you nearly 46 trail miles from the start at Russell Bridge (Hwy 28) in GA to Jones Gap in NC. It was created in collaboration with the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy to offer the best interpretive experience possible.

The BT generally parallels what is considered to be the route of William Bartram in May 1775 which began when he crossed the Chattooga River near Russell Bridge and traveled through the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia & the Nantahala Mountains of western NC. The history of William Bartram along with the local flora & fauna are discussed at various locations along the trail. Within the coverage area one will also find recreational opportunities along the Chattooga River (The Chattooga River Trail & Foothills Trail) & the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area. Partial coverage areas include Chattahootchee, Nantahala, & Sumter National Forests.
